Q: Great catching up with you Darren. Could you please tell us something about your background?

Darren Weinhold, Product Manager of Edwards Polycold®

Darren Weinhold

A: I have been working with vacuum products since I was 18, when I had my first undergraduate research experience studying magnetic field relaxation in plasma. Most of my experience since then was in developing technology for vacuum gauge transducers—mainly thermal conductivity gauges and cold cathode gauges. For the last three years, I led a team of engineers tasked with designing and supporting lines of vacuum gauge transducers and tilt sensors.

Q: What does the MaxCool 2000 add to the range?

A: The addition of the MaxCool 2000 to our MaxCool range allows customers with lower wattage cooling needs to enjoy the benefits provided by the rest of our MaxCool products. We are excited to offer the additional communications options, improved energy efficiency and smaller environmental footprint that customers enjoy on our MaxCool line. The MaxCool 2000 also provides customers who use our PFC-672 with a compelling reason to upgrade.

Q: From a client’s perspective, what kind of solutions does the MaxCool 2000 offer?

A: The MaxCool 2000 provides solutions across a wide range of applications. Whether customers are looking to cool wafer chucks for etch processes, or if customers are running batch processes that need large water pumping capacity to improve cycle times, the MaxCool 2000 provides a great solution to their needs.

Q: Can you tell us something about MaxCool 2000’s efficiency and its environmental impact?

Edwards Polycold® MaxCool 2000 Cryochiller

A: The MaxCool 2000 incorporates Polycold®’s extensive experience in designing cryochillers. Our Auto-Refrigerating-Cascade (ARC) process allows for much higher efficiency than other cooling solutions, due to incorporating only one compressor to run multiple refrigeration loops. Using the ARC process requires multiple refrigerants blended in just the right proportions to be able to achieve the necessary cooling. To minimize our effect on the environment, we utilize HCFC-free, non-toxic, non-flammable, CE-marked refrigerant products certified by a third party to meet the rigorous standards of the European Pressure Equipment Directive, Low Voltage Directive, EMC/EMV, and the Machinery Directive.
